Books I Have Read

One of my new year's resolutions in 2010 was to read one good quality educational book every month for the rest of my life. I have heard it said that twelve good books is the equivalent of a university degree. If that is true, then I have a number of degrees.

When we were young we had no access to television (still don't) and so we resorted to reading. We would take a weekly trip to the library. By the time I was twelve, apart from having read the Bible a few times, I had read hundreds of children's novels an detective stories like the Hardy Boys, Three Investigators and Williard Price Books.

However when I was in my early teens, my wonderful mother (I'm so glad to have her) decided that my brother and I were reading too much fiction, and that we should only be allowed to borrow books from the library that were factual, or at least non-fiction. So we began to devour biographies and books about all sorts of historical, geographical, technical and other kinds of books.

I realised this year that I must have read thousands of books in my life, but in particular, since my mother's non-fiction ruling, I must have read hundreds of books which have contributed to my knowledge and education. If twelve good books is a degree, than I have a string of letters after my name.

Anyway - this year, in line with my new year's resolution, I have decided to keep an online list of all the books I read, and to write a book review for every book that I read. In this manner I will be able to look back in years to come and see the wealth of information that I'm accumulating. It will be like a kind of online proof of my "degree"

So with no further ado - here is my list:
