May 26, 2005: Baptism in Lake Placid:

webmaster - Posted on 13 July 2009

The Tent of Promise is in Mt Morgan and we have been having a whale of a time. Yesterday we had half of the primary Lake Placid at Midnightschool go through and visit the Tent and many made decisions to follow Jesus. However the most interesting aspect of the day was a visit from some Israeli tourists, in particular Michael a Russian from Israel who has only recently become a Christian. As Michael sat through the meeting in the tent last night, he realised that he needed to be baptised. The only place availabe at the late hour (10:00pm) was the town dam. So with nothing other than torches we prayed with Michael and explained what baptism is all about, and he was immersed and became part of our Christian family that includes brothers and sisters from all around the world. I apologise that the photo is so dark, but it was a dark evening. Cold, Wet and HappyI am the one on the extreme left and another believer called David is on the right. Michael is in the middle, but under the water in this photo........one interesting element of the baptism is that our town dam has a small crocodile living there, so as a joke we often call the place Lake Placid, name after a popular movie about a man eating crocidile. At the right you can see a photo of Michael after the baptism, smiling and proud to be a follower of the Lord Jesus.
