April 11, 2005: The Passing of the Pope:

8 Days ago the Pope John Paul II passed away and went to be with the Lord. Although I'm not a Roman Catholic and most of the people I know are not either, I am convinced that this was a godly man that we should honour and respect for his devout and faithful life and service to God. Every denomination has weaknesses and faults, whether it be the Lutherans, Baptists, Pentecostals or the Roman Catholics.

May 4, 2005: Safely Back:

My hiking trip didn't end up going as planned. There were a couple of things which happened which were unfortunate and the whole event was a little stressful while I was in the middle of it. However, now that it is over I am glad to have had the experience of remote solo hiking. The rangers at Carnarvon National Park wanted me to send them photos and a report of my trip.

May 11, 2005: 28 Today:

Turned 28 at about 10:00 this morning. My grandmother phoned me at breakfast to wish me a happy birthday and asked how old I was. I told her and she said "Thats young." However it sounds old to me. How did I suddenly get to 28 when I was only 18 not very long ago. That last 10 years just dissapeared in a blink. I have a theory about this actually. When a person is young, time seems to pass slowly because compared to the amount of time they have lived, a day is a much larger unit of time.

This famous saying by John Donne was coined in the 17th century, and is the subject of my latest email.
