Facing the Giants

A few weeks ago I watched a movie called “Facing the Giants.” It was a kind of David & Goliath story about a few High School football teams in the USA. The Giants were the biggest and best team and had not been beaten for many years. In American football you can have as many interchanges and as many interchange players as you like. The Giants had over 80 players on their team – it meant they would never get tired in a game.

In the movie the other team from a High School called Shiloh had only a minimum of players who were under experienced and a lot smaller in physical size, but through a series of extraordinary events, Shiloh not only faced the Giants but actually beat them. Great movie!!

So I thought, we all have “Giants” in our own lives – things that seem too big for us to take on, let alone win. We all have struggles, problems and circumstances we don’t even want to think about, let alone face up to. The movie reminded me that if we are willing to take on our Giants and face them, we will find a way to come out the other side and be winners. There is always a way forward no matter what situation you find yourself in.
