Newsletter - Feb 4th 2010 - God Needs Permission
Dear Friend.
I read a book a number of years back called "Where Was God on September 11?" It's a good question because God seems to be "absent" from humanity at times and it raises doubt in the minds of many people.
God won't force you to do anything, and neither will he prevent you from doing something that might hurt you. His nature is entirely non controlling and this is so that genuine love might exist between God and people. If God controlled everything then we would not have choices and hence no choice to love. Of course God has graciously provided good instruction for us in the Bible for all who are interested. This prevents a lot of bad moments in our lives if we consider it seriously.
In the beginning of the world, humanity chose to become independant of God and do our own thing. Many of the events in the world that we consider bad are a result of the independance (sin) of humanity.
There are 2 really great points coming from all of this however.
Firstly that the love of Christ is fierce and strong and He came to save us from all the chaos of our making. This is the gospel message.
Secondly - when we realise that something good ought to happen and we pray - then we are "giving God permission" to act in our lives and in the world. Because a human being has "chosen" what is right, now God is able to move and act without it being controlling. That is why genuine prayer is so powerful. Prayer moves God and changes things.
So if you are not much of a pray-er. Start now!! Your prayers will have a greater impact than you will ever know.
All the Best - Talk to You Soon
