Dear %PERS_NAME%,
In the last 20 years the world has changed a lot... A LOT. I remember doing school projects where I would go to the library and research on Egypt or whatever the topic was. It was an expedition and required planning. Now Google gives me what I want in just 20 seconds.
Twenty years ago if someone was interested in faith, God, church or anything like that - they had to attend a service, or talk to someone who did. Now they find out what they want to know..... on Google.
The Bible encourages us to "let our light shine," and in the past we did that by being friendly and neighbourly and smiling. Now, we must be careful what we post on our facebook page - we could be advertising for the devil instead.
Every follower of Christ in today's world has opportunities (and dangers) that come with the internet, and along with all its wonderful qualities, it is a chance to share the gospel with others in a whole new, natural and very easy way. This email is to encourage you to be thoughtful about your facebook page, or your website if you have one, or even just your email signature which can reflect Christ.
This email is also to let you know that on April 25 (ANZAC Day for us Aussies) is the annual Internet Evangelism Day. This day is to help Christians share their faith better using the internet.
So on April 25 (A Sunday) our church will be broadcasting live a special presentation on the internet, facebook, evangelism and similar themes. watch the live broadcast at 10:30 am (GMT + 10:00, Brisbane) on Sunday April 25. An archive of the video will be available a few days afterwards.
A final thought for you - What would Jesus think if he clicked onto your Facebook page?
All the Best - Talk to You Soon David Alley
