David Elijah gets the $50

A few weeks ago I wrote about my son who found $50 in the ATM machine. At that time he was honest and handed in the money to the attendant at the petrol station.

I assured him that the Lord was his reward and that because of his honesty, he would be rewarded by the Lord regardless of how God chose to do it.

As it turned out, the money was not claimed and David Elijah was able to claim that as his reward. Well done David.

Palestine in Pieces - Book Review

Palestine in pieces book review Recently I have been reading a series of books about Israel and Palestine trying to gain an understanding of the history of the situation there, and also what the actual facts are on the ground today.  Neither of those (the history or the present situation) are pretty.  In fact a lot of what has happened, and is continually taking place in Palestine, is horrifying to the extreme.

I have always been someone who has listened to the news, read newspapers and occasionally seen the news on the television.  I have always known who the Prime Minister of Israel was, and been up to date with facts about the Palestinian Authority and other key pieces of information – but none of the things I have been reading about lately have ever been in the news – not as far as I have seen anyway.

Having a Baby - Book Review

My wife and I are having a baby – it’s due March 22.  Whilst I’m praying for March 17 (I like St Patrick) it could come anytime now.  So we have been reading up all about all baby related issues.  Here is my book review for the latest book I have devoured.

Cannibalism in the Bible

If you want to know where to find cannibalism in the bible it’s here – 2 Kings 8:1.

Just joking!  In all seriousness, do you want to know where this issue raises itself in the Bible – it’s with Jesus himself.  It was over this issue that Jesus lost a lot (a lot) of his followers.  We’ll get to that in one minute.

Injustice Makes Us Mad - The Yongala Shipwreck

There is something about injustice, or even perceived injustice that makes our blood boil. When something terrible happens, and there is justice, many people feel that there has been some kind of rectification of the problem and feel much better.

Mt Morgan Tragedy

Yesterday I heard the sad news of a Mt Morgan woman, the mother of 4 children, who was swept to her death in a flash flood. It is a real tragedy. I have offered my support as a school chaplain through the school community.

I Sincerely request prayer for the family of Pauline Grieve, especially for her children, today and in the months and years ahead.

Fast Food for the Hungry

200px-Dominos_pizza_logo.svgNo I’m not talking about pizza for the hungry people of Africa.  The logo at the left of Domino’s was just to make you think that.  In reality this article is about “fasting” food for the sake of the hungry and less fortunate.  This is a good thing to do and in fact the Bible has a lot to say about providing the needs of the less fortunate, and none other than Christ himself said “when you feed them, you fee

Look How Blessed I Am

190434783_richest_person_on_earthI recently visited www.globalrichlist.com and found out that I’m in the top 3% of people in the world in terms of wealth.  I know I don’t “feel” wealthy because I have to watch my money and be careful in many ways – but most people have less than me, so I’m blessed.

Feed The World With McDonalds

Feed_the_world_with_mcdonalds_end_poverty_one_dollar_a_dayRecently I had breakfast at McDonalds – my meal cost me $6.15 and I enjoyed it very much.  As I drove away I suddently realised something.  Millions of people around the world are in extreme poverty, living on less than $1 a day, and I just ate a weeks wor

The Blue Poles Saga

Recently whilst admiring the artistic handiwork of some of my children I couldn’t help but remembering the infamous “Blue Poles” saga.

This painting which does in fact resemble a childs artwork (abstract art) was purchsed by the Australian Government for close to US $2,000,000.00 in 1973.
