Who Will You Deny?
Do you remember Keith Green – a great preacher, but more than that, a world changeing musician whose music topped the charts for years after his death.
Today I found the website that Keith’s wife setup for them and it contains a lot of the newsletters they sent out, and also some music of his and also some of Keith’s mp3 sermons. Anything on their site will bless you.
However an article on their site grabbed me – it was taken from John Wesley who lived over 200 years ago. It was called “Who will You Deny?”
Basically the point is that we either serve our own interests and in doing so we deny Christ was He wants. Or we serve Christ’s interests which means we will deny ourselves some of the things we want. But can’t please both God and ourselves – hence the question - who will you deny?
It’s easy to say “I’ll deny myself” and think in such big grand terms that we think it only applies to a small number of decision which concern big matters. Like choosing which job to take for example. But the kind of self-denial we are talking about is in terms of things like fasting, prayer, what you allow on your TV screen and many other “smaller issues.”
God will convict you if you approach him sincerely in this matter.
